A swan mourning for its partner on the tracks of a German railway kept 23 trains for more than an hour until firefighters removed it, police said.
This incredible story about swans that blocked all rail traffic soon spread on social networks and became a viral hit, reports france24.
Police and firefighters were forced to intervene and remove the swan that caused a complete blockade of trains on route from Kassel to Göttingen in Germany. According to a local media report, firefighters used special equipment to remove the swan from the railroad tracks and release it into the Fulda River. One of the swans died earlier, most likely after getting stuck in power cords, according to a statement on the December 23 incident.
The other swan then positioned itself next to its dead partner and refused to move despite attempts by officers, causing traffic to be temporarily halted. Swans are known to have one partner all their lives which makes this reaction of the grieving swan much clearer.
